IN BLACK & LIGHT, the Podcast, is Here!

I believe it’s time for a different kind of discussion around deconstruction.

First, if you’re unfamiliar with the term deconstruction, its a reference to the process of re-examining the faith-tradition a person was handed.

"Deconstruction" has become pop-culture, or mainstream, in many ways. It seems like everyone everywhere is "deconstructing their faith." And if you ask me, I say, rightly so!

Yet, as a biblical researcher myself, I see a *nuance* missing from nearly every major discussion and discussor of the subject: the nuance of *consistency.* Simply, there is a sloppiness when it comes to how we-who-are-deconstructing-our-faith are approaching the Text to arrive at our alternate conclusions.

As humans, we take a lot of emotional comfort in what is predictable, yet this process of deconstructing feels anything but predictable. Consistency and a more measured approach will, without question, bring comfort and a far lower chance of this work of deconstruction feeling like such a free-for-all.

In addition to this, deconstruction matters because where it’s taking us is of utmost importance. When we’re deconstructing, we’re literally doing the work of tearing down an old foundation, or rather, the old lies covering the true foundation within every human being. So, our process matters so much because finding the true foundation matters so much—it’s ultimately what we want to re-build our lives upon! Finding this not only makes the hard work worth it, it anesthetizes any trauma we experienced in the process.

With a little guidance (from me!), I know we can do this smarter, faster, experience a lot less trauma in the process, and find a foundation worth rebuilding our lives upon!
